Master’s Thesis Student, AI & Computer Vision

We are looking for a Master’s thesis student to join our R&D team to work on AI-based perception solutions in research project.
The thesis focuses on applying deep learning methods to a real-world machine vision and automation problem in an off-highway environment. The work includes developing and evaluating perception algorithms for object detection. The thesis will be carried out primarily using existing datasets, with the possibility of collecting additional data later if needed. The developed solutions will ultimately be validated in a real machine environment.
Your responsibilities include training and validating neural network models, processing multimodal sensor data, and comparing different algorithmic approaches to identify the most suitable solution for the task. You will also contribute to dataset preparation and annotation from a model development perspective.
Planned start date is June (negotiable).

We hope you have:
- · Some hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks
- · Basic knowledge of computer vision
- · Programming skills in Python and/or C
- · A structured way of working and the ability to document technical results clearly
- · Fluent written and spoken English
It is a plus if you also have:
- · Familiarity with embedded systems
- · Familiarity with a Linux environment
- · Experience with ROS / ROS2
- · Experience with RGB-D or LIDAR sensor data
- · Written and/or spoken Finnish
In this role, your primary workplace will be our Tampere office at Hatanpää.
